The Hive is a warm and cosy space to host a memorable event, where your party can each create a unique keepsake that can last a lifetime.

capacity

The studio is small, so there is no space to accommodate things like a table of gifts, or party food.
We can not seat more than 12 people.
Note: If you have a full party of 12 painters, there is very little space left for any extra people to circulate or supervise. If, for example, you are booking a full party of 12 children and will have parents joining, I would advise a limit of no more than 3 adults supervising.

duration

All painting slots are two hours long, and you must arrive and leave promptly.
If you would like to hire the space for longer than two hours, additional time is calculated as follows:
- £15 for half an hour
- £25 for an hour
- £45 for two hours
If your group stays over 15 minutes past your allotted time, a £15 charge will apply.

The cost for each painter is a £5 studio fee, plus the cost of their chosen piece of pottery.
Most pieces start at £15, so this means the price per head starts at £20.

If you would like to pre-order pottery, or special order pottery to meet a specific theme, this may be possible, so let us know in the ‘Event description’ section of the order form what you are looking for.
There is an additional fee of £45 to book outside of normal opening hours, to cover staff and facility costs.
Deposits are non-refundable.

Food is prohibited due to health and safety around glazes, and due to the fact that grease on fingers will affect the piece you are painting.
Note: We do make allowances for cakes, and can provide plates and a knife for cutting. This must be consumed after painting has concluded, and the time for this must be budgeted within your two hour slot.
You are welcome to bring your own drinks, and we have glasses and a corkscrew available to use in the studio.
Note: We have Bird & Blend loose leaf tea available to purchase, as well as a range of Cawston Press canned and carton drinks.

You are welcome to bring decor such as balloons with you.
We do have rainbow coloured bunting, hanging fans, and rainbow table flowers available to use free of charge.

If you want to hire our space on a day/time we are open as normal:

We have no flexibility on these days as we have a set schedule and normal bookings to cater to.
On these days, you can book privately by booking all 12 seats (if they are available) via the website for the time slot you desire.
Please do not book privately on these days if you have 6 painters or less.
Please note on the websites booking system, we only take bookings up to a month in advance, so if you trying to book more than a month in advance, your date will become available the date a month prior to your desired date.
If you are booking via this method, you do not have to fill in the form below unless you want to get in touch with the team to discuss any special arrangements.
